To work with your hair length you might need to focus on creating more of an illusion of styles. This means working on the general shape of victory rolls or pin curls and setting them with hair sprays and pomade to secure in place.

There’s still options for styling short hair if you look back at the hair trends from the 20s – 60s there are iconic short hair looks from Marilyn to Audrey! For victory rolls we’re going to create more of an illusion using very thing curling irons and plenty of setting product! Using a setting spray and thermal protection spray before you use heat. (Even short hair needs protecting!) Curl through the front of your hair, leave to cool, then backcomb with fine tooth comb to make sure you tease every hair for as much volume as possible.Set with hairspray. Smooth the roll into shape, keeping your thumb inside the roll and brush the shape around it, curling the hair over until it sits in the roll shape. If your hair is very short, just use a strong hold hairspray and layer the spray to set without using hairgrips.
You can also reverse this front roll by simply directing your curling iron in any which way you’d like! Headscarves and hair flowers are a great way to dress up short hair. Use flowers on the sides of rolls to add the illusion of more volume.
